CONTRACTORS
Contractors are the people that make things happen on the network and get the power back on when it matters most.
Please allow at least 7 working days from the time that the Request for Supply form has been submitted until the anticipated livening date. If you suspect that a network fuse may need to be installed, additional time should be considered. If a cable needs to be attached to a pole in preparation for connection or any additional network alterations are required, you will need to contact a contractor holding the appropriate certification to work on the Westpower network.
Standards are currently being updated to provide a clear expectation of Westpower's requirements and our Asset Management staff are always ready to help with any clarifications that may be required
Reminder for New Connections
Westpower has had it's New Connection policy in place for over two years and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for helping to establish a successful outcome.
Although the system appears to be working well, from time to time there are hiccups that need to be overcome. To ensure a timely resolution to any Request for Supply form submitted to Westpower I would like to remind you of the following:
- The Westpower Request for Supply form is available for download on the Westpower web site www.westpower.co.nz under the heading 'Request for a New Supply'. Please use this service as updates to the form will be posted directly to the web site. Following the 'How to Get Connected' link will explain the new connection process and requirements.
- Please allow at least 7 working days from the time that the Request for Supply form has been submitted until the anticipated livening date. If you suspect that a network fuse may need to be installed, additional time should be considered. If a cable needs to be attached to a pole in preparation for connection or any additional network alterations are required, you will need to contact a contractor holding the appropriate certification to work on the Westpower network.
- If a network extension is required, a detailed description of the proposal is required complete with map, anticipated load, intended conductor size and any other relevant information. On submission to Westpower, this will be used for initial concept approval. When you have received notification of concept approval, relevant regulations and Westpower's construction standards will govern works and determine pre and post construction processes. As approval for concept design may need significant engineering input, at least 14 working days should be allowed from the time the initial design is submitted.
- When the installation is ready to be livened, please log your request with Westpower Control at least 48 hours before the anticipated livening time. Westpower Control can be contacted on 03 768 2751 or alternatively email connections@westpower.co.nz
If you have any queries or concerns regarding Westpower's New Connection processes, please contact Raelene Costello on 03 768 2772.
Yours faithfully
