REQUEST FOR NEW SUPPLY

Westpower New Connections

Before you can connect to the Westpower Network we need:

  • a Westpower Request for Supply form correctly completed and signed.
  • a Westpower Connection Agreement approving the connection.
  • a Certificate of Compliance completed by your electrician.
  • a supply contract with an electricity retailer.

Request for Supply

Applications are required for all new connection, alterations and temporary connections. A Westpower Request for Supply must be submitted for all such cases.

Installation changes that are classed as alterations to supply include:

  • Any load increase requiring new mains.
  • Single phase to three-phase upgrade.
  • Single phase to two-phase upgrade.
  • Two phase to three-phase upgrade.
  • Underground conversion.
  • Any load increases over 5kW (domestic).
  • Any load increase / decrease exceeding 10% of current load (non domestic).

You can download a Westpower Request for Supply form in PDF Format here.

To talk to someone about your application, or to request a paper copy of the form, contact us on 03 768 9300 or email us.

Your application form must include:

  • your name and contact details.
  • the address / Lot number of the connection.
  • the number of phases you require.
  • the anticipated load required.
  • an indication of either temporary or permanent supply.
  • the connection use (e.g. domestic / non domestic).
  • a sketch of the physical location of the connection. This will help us to verify its exact location in relation to our existing network and will help shorten the time it takes to process your application.

Please note: Your application cannot be processed unless all the above information is supplied correctly. If the information is incomplete or inaccurate, your application will be returned to you. Other terms and conditions may also apply.

The Connection Agreement

Once your request for supply has been approved you will be sent a Westpower Connection Agreement. The connection agreement will provide all relevant information relating to the connection, including a map indicating the location the connection is to be made. If required it will also indicate if a network extension is required for the connection.
The Connection Agreement is valid for a 6 month period, after which you may be required to re-apply for the connection if you wish to proceed.

Certificate of compliance

A registered electrical inspector must, by law, provide you with a certificate of compliance for your connection. For a new electrical installation this includes proof of electrical inspection. The certificate of compliance is evidence that the work complies with the Electricity Act 1992, relevant regulations and codes of practice.

Energy supply contract with an electricity retailer

We need confirmation that you have agreed to buy electricity from an electricity retailer. We have an agreement with electricity retailers which allows them to deliver and sell electricity via our network. You need to contact your preferred electrical retailer before being connected. Once the retailer has contacted Westpower and all other requirements have been met the connection can be livened.
For more information on getting connected, please contact us on 03 768 9300 or email us.
